3D printing - in metal and plastic
3D-printing is an additive manufacturing method where material is added layer by layer according to a digital 3D model, making it possible to create complex and customised components without requiring traditional subtractive machining or mould production and casting. Complex and difficult geometries or materials are also not a problem but can be efficiently manufactured with the technology.
Lasertech is an experienced full-service provider of 3D-printed articles in both metal and plastic. Since 2014 we have specialised in 3D-printing in metal and are the only subcontractor in Sweden with such long experience in the field. As a complement to metal we also offer 3D-printing in plastic, which means that we can meet a wide variety of customer needs and manufacture a broad spectrum of products across different material areas.
We use 3D-printing with laser, SLM (Selective Laser Melting), an effective method for 3D-printing where a layer of metal powder is melted using a laser and then builds the object layer by layer. This process gives us the opportunity to create detailed and strong components with high precision and minimal material waste. The technology is particularly useful for manufacturing complex parts that are difficult or impossible to produce with traditional manufacturing methods.

Advantages of 3D printing
- Flexibility: Ability to create complex and customised objects that would be difficult or impossible to produce with traditional methods.
- Rapid prototyping: Provides quick feedback and allows rapid design iterations.
- Less material waste: Since the material is built up layer by layer rather than removed, 3D-printing results in minimal material loss.
- Production start: 3D-printing requires no expensive moulds or specific tools to start producing a product.
- High precision and customisation: Using 3D-printing we can create parts with high precision and tailor them to specific functional and aesthetic needs.
- Cost-effective for small series: For small volumes and prototypes, 3D-printing is a cost-effective alternative, as it does not require expensive tools or moulds for production.
-
Areas of use
- Industry: Production of spare parts, machine components and tools.
- Medical technology: Customised prosthetics, implants and surgical tools.
- Automotive and aerospace: Manufacture of lightweight components to reduce weight and improve performance.
- Defence industry: Advanced details and system solutions with high complexity. 3D-printing is used to manufacture tailored parts and components for defence systems where precision, durability and rapid production are crucial.
- Energy efficiency: Manufacturing components for the energy industry such as turbines and heat exchangers.
- Consumer products: Customised and personally tailored products, ranging from jewellery and fashion to home electronics.
